The Hidden Dangers of Reiki Initiations and Tarot Dependency

Why Reiki Initiations and Tarot Are Not the Path to True Healing and Enlightment

In 2021, I began practicing Reiki and learning Tarot, drawn to both as tools for self-healing and guidance. At first, they seemed to promise empowerment—a way to connect with universal energy and uncover hidden wisdom. However, as I delved deeper, I realized the profound deception underlying both practices. By 2022, I had stopped them entirely.

Reiki and Tarot, though different in form, share a common flaw: they create dependence. Reiki promises a connection to life force energy, while Tarot offers answers and clarity through cards. But both systems ultimately bind the practitioner or seeker to external intermediaries, taking away personal power and energy. Here’s why I believe these paths are not what they claim to be.

1. Connection to Life Force Energy Is Our Birthright

Reiki initiations are marketed as a way to “connect” to the universal life force energy. Similarly, Tarot is presented as a tool to gain access to hidden knowledge and insights. But the truth is that we are already connected to both—life force energy flows through us naturally from the moment of our conception, and our intuition holds all the wisdom we need to navigate life’s challenges.
These systems suggest we lack something vital and must seek it externally, creating a cycle of dependence on practitioners, cards, or rituals. This undermines our innate power to heal and make decisions for ourselves.

2. The Hidden Dependence Created by Reiki Initiations and Tarot

One of the most disturbing aspects of both Reiki and Tarot is the dependence they create. In Reiki, the attunement process involves placing symbols on a person’s chakras, binding them energetically to the Reiki system and its lineage of practitioners. This connection doesn’t empower the individual—it siphons their energy into the system, creating a loop of reliance.
Similarly, Tarot fosters a dependency on the cards and the person interpreting them. Over time, individuals may start seeking answers for every decision or situation, surrendering their personal responsibility to the guidance of a stranger or the symbolism of the cards. This takes away their ability to trust their own intuition and make empowered choices.

3. The Myth of the ‘Healing Crisis’

In Reiki, the “21-day healing crisis” is often cited as a natural part of the attunement process. Practitioners claim that things may get worse before they get better, attributing any discomfort or struggle to a necessary stage of healing. But this concept of a “healing crisis” is a dangerous myth.
True healing does not involve crises, it’s a follow up to a crisis. First comes crisis, then the healing takes place. Body seeks balance. Always. Discomfort or upheaval is a signal that something harmful has been introduced, not a sign of progress. Tarot can perpetuate similar false narratives, as seekers may cling to unclear or negative readings, believing they must endure certain hardships to reach a better outcome.

4. Reiki Masters and Tarot Readers as Unnecessary Intermediaries

Both Reiki masters and Tarot readers position themselves as intermediaries to universal energy or knowledge. Reiki masters claim to “open” chakras or cleanse energy centers, while Tarot readers provide guidance and answers based on card spreads. In both cases, the individual is made to feel incapable of accessing these resources on their own.
The truth is, we don’t need intermediaries to connect to life force energy or find clarity in our lives. Each of us is inherently connected to the source of energy and wisdom. By relying on external systems, we lose trust in our own inner power.

5. The Truth About Energy Healing and Decision-Making

Reiki and Tarot both promote the idea that healing and guidance come from external sources. But true healing happens within—it cannot be imposed from the outside. Similarly, only we can decide what’s right for our lives. No cards or practitioners can provide definitive answers, and trusting them with such power robs us of our own agency.

6. Systems Like Reiki and Tarot Consume Energy

One of the most critical realizations I had was that man-made systems like Reiki and Tarot do not generate energy—they consume it. Reiki practitioners and Tarot systems take more energy than they give, creating dependency while draining individuals of their own vitality and resources.

Nature, by contrast, is a system of abundance and balance. It gives freely without taking more than it needs, offering wisdom, healing, and energy in infinite supply. By reconnecting with nature, we can restore our balance and independence.

Conclusion: Returning to True Balance

Stepping away from Reiki and Tarot was one of the most liberating decisions I’ve made. These systems, though marketed as tools for healing and empowerment, ultimately create dependence and take more than they give.

True healing and guidance come from within. We are already connected to the universal life force energy and the wisdom we need to navigate life. By reconnecting with nature, trusting our intuition, and taking responsibility for our own journeys, we can find authentic healing and empowerment without the illusions of external systems.

This version incorporates Tarot from the beginning, emphasizing its role in creating dependence and how it parallels Reiki. Let me know if you’d like to refine it further!
